Is scaling (teeth cleaning) harmful to enamel?
No — this is one of the most persistent myths in dentistry. Professional scaling removes calcified bacterial deposits (tartar) that a toothbrush cannot reach. It does not touch enamel. In fact, leaving tartar in place causes far more damage than any scaling procedure ever could.
Can loose teeth be saved without extraction?
In many cases, yes — and this surprises most patients. Loose teeth are usually caused by bone loss from gum disease. When gum disease is treated properly at the specialist level, bone loss stops, the supporting structures stabilise, and teeth that felt hopeless become functional again. Early treatment gives the best outcomes.
